School Year Policies (2026/2027)

JOINING THE TMS FAMILY

 

Getting Started

We want your registration to be as smooth as possible. Once you submit our online Registration Form, our administrative team will reach out to personally guide you through the final steps, confirm your schedule, and help with any questions you may have.

​

Registration & Tuition

​

• Completing Enrollment: To secure your spot and begin lessons, we require a completed registration form and an established tuition payment plan.

​

• Flexible Payment Options: We are happy to offer several ways to pay! You may choose to pay in one full payment, two equal payments, or ten equal monthly payments.

​

• Fees: To help us maintain our facilities and support our staff, there is an annual Registration Fee of $50 per family and a $100 Student Deposit. This deposit is a credit that goes directly toward your tuition! Both of these items are non-refundable and are due at the time of registration.

​

SCHEDULING YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY

​

• The School Year: Our school year runs from September through June, with the option of taking lessons during the summer. New students are welcome to begin lessons at any time during our school year!

​

• Your Weekly Time: When you register, we’ll find a weekly lesson time that works for you. Because we are growing and space is limited, we ask that you treat this time as a priority. While we’ll always try to help if a conflict arises, we cannot guarantee that other time slots will be available.

​

ATTENDANCE & MISSED LESSONS

Consistency is the key to progress! We encourage all students to attend their lessons regularly.

​

If You Need to Miss a Lesson

We understand that life happens. If you can’t make it, please let your teacher know as soon as possible.

​

• Giving Notice: To be considered for a make-up lesson, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice.

​

• Make-Up Lessons: Our teachers will do their best to find a make-up time if their schedule allows, though we cannot guarantee availability. Please note that lessons missed with less than 48 hours' notice, or those that cannot be rescheduled within the teacher's current hours, will be considered completed.

​

• Group Classes: We unfortunately cannot offer make-ups for individual absences. Your teacher will email a home assignments so you don't miss a beat!

 

Staying Healthy: The "Online Pivot"

The health of our community is a priority. If you or a family member are feeling unwell, please stay home and rest!

​

• Zoom Lessons: If a student is under the weather but still feels up to playing, we are happy to hold your lesson online via Zoom at your regular time. Just let your teacher know, and they will send you a link.

 

Teacher Absences

If your teacher is away or ill, we’ll ensure your progress continues by providing a qualified substitute or scheduling a make-up lesson. In some cases, your teacher may offer a lesson via Zoom.

WITHDRAWALS & REFUNDS

We understand that circumstances can change. If you need to withdraw from lessons, please send a written note to info@tabermusic.com.

 

Private Lessons

• We require 4 weeks' notice for withdrawals.

​

• If notice is given before March 1st, we will gladly refund any tuition for the remainder of the year following your notice period.

​

• For students who join us late in the year (after Feb 1st), you have a "trial period"—you may withdraw and receive a refund at any point before your 5th lesson.

 

Group Lessons & Short-Term Specials

• Fall Term: Withdraw by October 31st for a full refund of remaining tuition.

​

• Winter Term: Withdraw by December 31st for a refund of the second half of the year.

​

• For shorter sessions (15 weeks or less), we are unable to offer refunds once the classes have begun.

​

WEATHER, HOLIDAYS & MEDIA

​

• Snow Days: If the weather makes travel unsafe and we have to close the building, the music doesn't have to stop! Lessons will automatically move to an online format at their regular time.

​

• Statutory Holidays: We love making music on holidays! Lessons falling on stat holidays will be taught in-person and are included in your tuition. Check our School Calendar for specific dates.

​

• Celebrating Our Students: We love sharing the joy of our students' work! We occasionally use photos or videos for our website and social media. If you would prefer that your family’s image not be used, just let us know in writing when you register—we are happy to respect your privacy.

​

A Note for Our Adult Students (Punchcards)

To keep things fair for our teachers’ schedules, we require 48 hours’ notice to reschedule a punchcard lesson. Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be considered complete.

​

TMS SUMMER PROGRAM (2026)

Effective May 1st, 2026

​

Summer at TMS is all about flexibility and fun! Whether you are joining a camp or taking private lessons, our summer session is designed to fit your vacation schedule.

​

Registration and Fees

• Open Enrollment: Summer registration opens on April 1st and remains open throughout the season.

​

• Finalizing Your Spot: Registration is finalized once payment is received. To keep things simple during the summer months, Taber Music School accepts e-transfer for all summer program payments.

​

• Payment: Fees for both Summer Camps and Private Lessons must be paid in full before your session commences.

​

• No Registration Fee: We waive the annual registration fee for all of our Summer Programs!

​

Summer Refund & Cancellation Policy

• Withdrawals: We offer a 90% refund if registration is cancelled at least 2 weeks before your session or camp begins. Please send written notice of intent to withdraw to info@tabermusic.com. 

​

• Short Notice: To protect our staffing and material costs, no refunds can be given if registration is cancelled less than 2 weeks prior to the start of the session.

​

• Course Cancellations: TMS reserves the right to cancel a camp due to insufficient registration. In these rare cases, we will notify you and provide a full refund.

​

Private Summer Lessons

• Flexible Scheduling: Summer lessons don't need to occur weekly! You may sign up for a predetermined amount of lessons during July and August to fit your travel plans.

​

• Attendance: Because these times are custom-scheduled for the summer, no credits, refunds, or make-up lessons can be provided for any lessons missed by the student.

​

Promotional Photography

• We love capturing the energy of our summer camps and lessons! Photographs and videos will be taken for promotional use only. By joining our summer session, you give TMS permission to use these images and videos on our website, social media, and in printed materials to celebrate our students' progress.
